The Chair
The Chair develops and promotes human-centred artificial intelligence and its applications in selected problems of science, engineering, medicine and education. It takes part in AI ethics and AI in psychological science, as well as in discussions on AI legislation.
To widen access to knowledge and reduce the digital literacy deficit, remote AI-ethics certificate courses will be offered — subject to availability, supported by extended reality.
Work spans contemporary technology, materials science, information science and biomedical engineering, with international cooperation and links to industry. A particular emphasis is placed on Africa, the MENA region and SIDS.
Focus
Address digital literacy gaps through remote open courses and trainings on artificial intelligence.
Promote human-centred AI across engineering, biomedical sciences and public education.

Tackle gender bias in AI and inspire young women in artificial intelligence and technical fields.
Contribute to AI ethics and legislation, including the EU AI Act, GDPR and UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI.
